Albendazole for Horses: Dosage & Safety

The 11.36% albendazole oral liquid is labelled for horses as well as cattle and sheep, dosed at roughly 3.5 mL per 100 lb of body weight. As always, weigh the horse and confirm the dose against the product label.

Albendazole use in horses is extra-label — the dose and withdrawal period must be set by your veterinarian. This page is educational and is not a recommendation to treat.

Safety notes

  • Do not use in horses intended for food.
  • Use caution in pregnant mares and follow veterinary advice.
  • Weigh the horse (or use a weight-tape) rather than estimating, and rotate dewormer classes based on faecal egg counts.

Dosing and withdrawal figures reflect the 11.36% product label and published references and are educational only — always confirm the current label and consult your veterinarian.

Extra-label use. Because albendazole is not label-approved for horses, treatment should be directed by a licensed veterinarian, who sets the correct dose and the meat/milk withdrawal. For background, see the albendazole dosing guide.
